Threshold Debuts Innovative Wireless Networking Products at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show
With ConfigSpot, consumers can add wireless devices to their home networks with no typing, software, installation, or configuration. Just hold two devices near each other and the devices talk to each other using Threshold's new ConfigSpot technology. ConfigSpot automatically configures and installs the new device, complete with security settings.

Threshold's ConfigSpot technology enables a new expansion of wireless technology by making existing devices radically easier to install and use, and enabling wireless capabilities to be incorporated into almost any device at an extremely low cost. For example, wireless-controlled electrical outlets can know when to turn off the water heater to save money and help the environment, or consumers can add a new wireless camera, phone, or media player to the network by just holding it over another device.

Threshold will be demonstrating these technologies in conjunction with its Home Controller, a wireless base station and application server that supports WiFi, ONE-NET, and other wireless networking standards.

Wireless networking can deliver a wealth of different benefits, but building complex and secure home networks is too difficult for most consumers. The complexity and difficulty of building sophisticated multi-device networks has stood in the way of adoption, sales, and market growth. Now, thanks to Threshold's breakthrough ConfigSpot technology, the full power of home networking can finally be realized.

Threshold combines the simplicity of ConfigSpot automatic configuration technology with the power of wireless networks such as WiFi and ONE-NET to deliver a wide range of network applications including:

  • Home security
  • Home automation
  • Energy conservation
  • Home entertainment
  • Elder care

Threshold's new SmartDuty software provides a fast and easy way for consumers, system integrators, installers, and developers to quickly build smart multi-device network applications. SmartDuty uses a “context intuitive” user interface so network applications can be developed quickly and easily, even by novices.

Threshold supports a wide variety of networking standards including WiFi, ONE-NET, Z-Wave, INSTEON, ZigBee, X-10, and HomePlug.

Demonstrations of Threshold's products and technology can be seen at Threshold's booth in the Sands Convention Center. The booth number is 72846.
